Metro - The Noughtie Girl's Guide to Feminism is admirable.

The airhead statement that 'being a feminist is what you want it to be' suggests journalist Ellie Levenson's approach is more Spice Girl than proud follower in Emmeline Pankhurst's footsteps. And she does makea claim for Victoria Beckham being an overlooked feminist icon, which is, quite frankly, pushing it. Yet there's much to admire in Levenson's spirited, deceptively frothy arguments in favour of a feminism that accommodates the many choices and complexities involved in being a 21st-century woman without ever negating the fundamental need for equality. Irish Times - Depilated handbook slaps real feminists in the face

There's a classic moment in the BBC comedy Pulling when Sharon Horgan's character, Donna, discovers her inner feminist. When her reformed binge-drinking mate Karen says that her new boyfriend prefers it if she doesn't wear make-up, Donna tells her to ditch the "surrendered wife" act, pull herself together and put the slap back on. "Women fought for the right to wear make-up. You owe it to the Suffragettes," she chides. Donna you're a peach. And, with Twitter-style minimalism, you seem to have summed up British journalist Ellie Levenson's thesis.
